Mike Lyons is the West Virginia Department of Veterans Assistance Operations Manager.
In 1995, Mike enlisted in the U. S. Air Force as a Fuels Technician working in cryogenics and continued to serve in the United States Air Force until 2003 when he was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant (E-5).
Mike has been deployed on several combat tours including Saudi Arabia for Operation
Southern Watch and Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom. He has been
employed with the Division of Veterans Affairs since November 2004 having filled
the positions of Veterans Service Officer, Claims Manager, Deputy Director and
now Operations Manager for the Department of Veterans Assistance. Mike was officially
selected for the Departments Operation Manager November 2011.
He has held the positions of State Department Service Officer for the Veterans of
Foreign Wars being certified to represent veterans before the Board of Veterans
Appeals since June 2006 and held the position of post quartermaster for VFW Post
3466. He is a member of several veteran organizations including the VFW and American
Legion and being a disabled veteran, the wounded warrior project.
A graduate of Washington C.H. Senior High School in Washington Court House,
Ohio, Mike resides in Catlettsburg, Ky.
