James Carlsen

James Carlsen is a Senior Fellow at the Veterans Consortium Pro Bono Program. From 1990 to 2015, he worked at Northrop Grumman Corporation in a variety of capacities including Director of International Systems, Director of Undersea Systems, and Assistant General Counsel. Since September 2015, he has held the title of Retired Senior Director.

 

From 1986 to 1990, James was a senior associate at McGuireWoods, LLP, focusing on government contracts and commercial litigation.

James served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1975 to 1986, retiring with the rank of Major. He was a Platoon and Company Commander in the Eighth Marines. He also served as a Chief Trial Counsel, Chief Defense Counsel, Senior Marine Prosecutor and Senior Marine Appellate Defense Counsel in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces.

James earned his J.D. from Notre Dame Law School and his B.A. from the University of South Carolina.
