WV Association for Justice mixer
Thursday, April 13, the West Virginia Association for Justice will be hosting a mixer
in the Event Hall at 6pm. Free hors d'oeuvres and free drinks (bring your ID).
The WVAJ is the premier plaintiff's firm association in West Virginia and always
host a tailgate at the law school in the fall. Attorneys practicing in a variety
of types of law will be there so this is a great way to network, chat with attorneys,
and find job connections!

1L Moot Court Competition
Good Afternoon,
The 1L Moot Court Competition will now be open to the
entire
1L class. Originally, only 1Ls who bailiffed in the Energy Competition were permitted
to compete. However, given the short notice of the bailiffing requirement and
the property midterm, we have decided to allow any interested 1L to tryout. We
are looking to build on the success of last year’s team and sincerely hope that
you all tryout! The competition will be held on April 19th and 20th.You will
be arguing your final LRRW paper. Competitors are required to argue both “on
brief the first day and “off brief" the next day.
What you need to do:
(1) Add the “1L Moot Court Competition” on TWEN by Monday, April 17th (this is the only way that we will be able to pair you up for arguments)
(2) Select “Course Materials” and read the Competition Slides and Rules
(3) Submit a persuasive writing sample in the dropbox located on the TWEN page before April 19th (this can be your final LRRW paper)

Family Law Quarterly applications
If you are interested in applying to be on the Family Law Quarterly next year, please
send Associate Dean Kendra Fershee an updated resume
by 5:00 p.m. on April 17 (next Monday). If you are selected to be a part
of the FLQ, you will be asked to do a Bluebook quiz at some point over the summer
to help us pair you up with a partner for your first article editing assignment
next fall. We'll send more information after the application period closes next
Monday.
