1L Scholarship, Character & Activism Award — Carrie Miller '23
"Carrie is the model law student. She always comes prepared to class and participates in discussions. She juggles her studies with the numerous activities she is involved in. It seems like she is a member of every club, and she gives her all in everything she does. In addition to her busy schedule, she somehow makes time to engage with her classmates. Carrie is a genuinely kind soul and makes everyone feel like a friend."

"Natalia is impressive. She is not afraid to speak truth to power but always does it in a kind and respectful manner….This woman is a force. She will make her mark in this world and the world will be better for it."
3L Legacy Award — Christine Jacobs '21
"Christine Jacobs has built a strong, character reputation for herself. Everyone that meets Christine knows that she will stand up for what she believes is right, even if she does not have a stake in the game."
"A “legacy” goes beyond grades, job status, or other achievements. Legacy by definition imputes a gift. Thus, it is only fitting that the person who wins this award is someone who constantly gives to others. And there is no one else that gives to others as much as Christine Jacobs."
“…Christine embodies true allyship, leadership, and advocacy.”
Exemplary Student Group for 2020–21 — Women's Leadership Council
"It was evident from the start that this year's executive board for WLC was going to be on top of things! The pandemic didn't slow them down, while things were different, they adapted wonderfully to the challenging times. Kicking off the year with a successful modified faculty/student mixer in a virtual format, new 1L members were enthusiastically welcomed. This year the mentoring program was more important than ever. 1L student mentees have consistently commented on the importance of their relationship with their mentor. This year in particular, mentors and mentees truly connected and helped each other navigate a particularly challenging year…WLC is consistently an involved WVU Law student group, but this year they truly outdid themselves, and creatively, and very successfully, worked within the provided parameters."
