Career Services Updates

Hello and welcome back!

I am really looking forward to a great “less virtual” year! In particular, it will be nice to finally meet the class of 2023 in-person, instead of via Zoom!

Fall OCI – Important!

We have decided to pivot to a remote/virtual fall on-campus interviewing season. So, just as we did in the spring, we will be using the Flo Recruit platform for interviewing. If you recall all aspects of scheduling sign up etc. are still conducted via Symplicity. The difference comes when you receive your schedule and links to your Flo Recruit interview(s).

For a refresher, or perhaps for some an initial look at Flo Recruit, please review the following: 3 – minute student training videoStudent Flo Recruit Guide;  and new Virtual Background for Flo Recruit;

Please know that because we schedule OCI via Symplicity, we will not be using the document upload function which is mentioned in the 3-minute video. While many of you may opt to conduct your interviews from home, we will again have rooms available at the law school which you may reserve. To do so please contact Student Services at 304-293-5301 or stop by the Student Services Suite (Room 100) to request a room and specify the times needed; you may also email Samantha Stefanov to reserve a room (Samantha.Stefanov@mail.wvu.edu).

As a reminder you should hear no later than Tuesday of next week of your interview selections in order to sign up.

Of course, I am available for mock interviews and answering any questions prior to VOCI. Just request a counseling appointment via Symplicity, email me at rosalind.lister@mail.wvu.edu, or call me at 304-293-7750

Appointments

Don’t worry! For those of you not participating in OCIs I am, of course, happy to assist with your search as you move towards your second summer, or post-graduate plans.

In addition to individual appointments, which you can request through Symplicity, I will once again hold Walk-Up Wednesdays in the main lobby. WUPW will begin Wednesday, August 25,  and run from 11:00a.m. – 1:00p.m. Walk-Up Wednesday is generally for brief 5-10 minute - no appointment needed - visits, whereas individual appointments are typically 20-30 minutes in length. I am happy to hold appointments in-person, via Zoom, or by phone. Your choice!

Programming

As I plan programming for the fall, please let me know if there are any topics you would like to have addressed. Additionally, if you are in a student organization and would like to partner with career services on programming ideas, feel free to reach out! While some programming will be in-person, through Zoom we can also hold panels/programs with guests from out-of-state.

2Ls

Are you thinking about what to do regarding work over the next two years, and after graduation? I am happy to chat with you about your interests and options. You are definitely not alone if you are not yet certain of your plans. Don’t hesitate to reach out!

3Ls

This is the year! Your final year of law school can be very busy. Know I am here to help as you look for post-graduate positions. Also, keep in mind the importance of letting me know when you accept a post-graduate position. It is critical we gather data from each member of the class for ABA/NALP reporting, as well as for our own information. As you may know, we compile data on each graduating class through a post-graduate survey. I will be posting that survey once it is received from NALP.

Again, I look forward to seeing everyone back on campus soon!
