Accomodations

If you will need accommodations for the upcoming semester, please contact Associate Dean Wilson as soon as possible.

Lockers

Due to social distancing guidelines, we will have to close the locker area for the fall semester. We are sorry about this and know that it is a big inconvenience to many students. The space is simply too tight. If you currently have items in a locker that you need, please make arrangements with Assistant Dean Jernigan to retrieve those items. We hope to bring the lockers back online for the spring semester.

Student Organization Leaders

We value your input. Please complete this very brief survey regarding the planning of our annual student organization fair: https://wvu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0AREYOUrtySyyHP

If you have any questions, please let Assistant Dean Jernigan know.

Financial Aid Disbursement Update

Some of you may be concerned about the financial aid timeline adjustments with regard to disbursement, as the University has indicated that it might be later for undergraduates given the new undergraduate start date. The University intends to keep the disbursement date for law students as close to August 9 as possible. Of course, things are fluid, but we believe that there will be an official update to the Return to Campus Cost and Aid page very soon. If you have any questions, please contact Elissa Momen, associate director of Enrollment Management and Scholarships.

Bookstore

Students may order their books online at  https://wvulaw.bncollege.com/shop/wvu-law/home

Please note: If a class has two (2) books listed with similar titles, please make a choice. One may be a Casebook only while the other is a Casebook Plus, which contains digital access to the ebook and helpful study aids bundled with the Casebook. Make sure you aren’t ordering two of the same book. If a title is recommended that means it is optional (not required by the professor). It is usually a study aid.

If you are using financial aid to purchase your textbooks:
Last day to place an order using “Financial Aid” payment type is 8/5 by (11 p.m.).
We will begin processing Student Financial Aid Orders after August 7.

If you want your orders to be shipped to your home address:
If there are orders to be shipped that are not Financial Aid, we will try to process those when we have the books. Please note there may be a delay on shipping orders.

If you want to pick up your order at the College of Law Bookstore:
Tentatively, Store Pick-Up Orders will be available beginning August 13th. You will receive an email when your order is ready for pick up.

The WVU Law Bookstore price matches.
You must request a price match - it does not happen automatically! Type in price matching on the Law website and you will see the details to price match. If you want to price match books, please email Mary Jo Fugera, Bookstore Manager, a screenshot of the price match. When they process your books, they will look at the screenshot to see if it meets the criteria.

The Barnes & Noble Café will be open beginning September 8.

We will be hosting a training for student organizations on the new guidelines after school has started. A date and time will be set soon (we are waiting for updated guidance from the University before we set any dates).

Career Services

Hello!
Welcome to - or back to - the College of Law. I really look forward to seeing you, and helping you, throughout the coming year! 1L students, I am particularly excited to meet you, and to assist you with your career development, and preparation for internship and career opportunities. Take these first few weeks to become acclimated to law school, then, later in September I will be in touch with information about programming especially for your class. Good luck, and see you soon!

On-Campus Interviews (OCI)

While Career Services usually hosts on-campus interviews (OCI) in both fall and spring semesters, this year, along with many other law schools, we will host employers in the spring semester only. These interviews will host employers seeking 1L, 2L and 3L students. OCI will take place February 8 - 19, 2021. More information will be forthcoming later in the fall.

How did you spend your summer?

2L and 3L students - many of you have completed the survey regarding how you spent the summer of 2020. Thank you! Congratulations to Ashlyn Ramsay and Will Sukovich who won gift cards in the recent drawing of summer surveys. If you have not yet completed a summer survey, please do so. Thank you!

2L & 3L students - are you interested in an internship or post-graduate position out-of-state?

Check out this great opportunity to meet with employers from across the country! WVU Law is one of 50 law schools who participate in the annual Southeastern Minority Job Fair (SEMJF). SEMJF is a legal interview program which brings together employers from all over the country, and diverse students from more than 50 law schools in the southeastern United States. It is one of the oldest and largest events of its kind in the country. The Southeastern Minority Job Fair registration period is now open! While the fair is normally held in July in Atlanta, GA., this year's fair will be virtual, and will be held October 29 & 30, 2020.

  • Typically, 100 employers from all over the U.S. participate, including "Big Law" law firms and government and public interest organizations.
  • Deadline to register is September 2, 2020.
  • This year SEMJF requires a Diversity Statement from each candidate.
