Cam Viney

Cam's ACBA summer position was at the firm Cozen O'Connor in Pittsburgh.

This summer opened my eyes to big law; it gave me the opportunity to explore many different practice areas and help narrow my interests to the corporate law realm. The connections I made, projects I got to work on, and experiences I will forever cherish could not have been made possible without the hard work and dedication by Alysia Keating and the rest of the ACBA Board. I could write a book about my summer experience but overall, I would say it was truly indescribable. I cannot simply put into words the impact this past summer had on me. Wow.

Cozen O'Connor blew me away! The people, the culture, the work and atmosphere could not have been more terrific. The managing partner, Jeremy Garvey, communicated with me regularly about my experience and the projects I was receiving. I was asked to lunch almost every day by partners and associates. Also, the open-door policy truly meant "Please come to my office at any time."

I got a very broad range of work and had everything from commercial litigation, to labor and employment, to corporate law. The firm knew that I was highly interested in corporate work, so I was able to work on investment agreements, lease agreements, settlement agreements, etc. I also was able to work on a broad range of litigation topics.
I was able to attend hearings on motions, negotiations, depositions, mediation talks, and settlement talks. I had the opportunity to go to state and federal court in West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

This summer experience in Pittsburgh helped solidify my decision to pursue a life-long career in Pittsburgh. It has everything I am looking for to start and raise a family and to start and pursue a career in. Although I thoroughly enjoyed my summer at Cozen, I will be working at Reed Smith LLP next summer in their Pittsburgh office.
