A 1948 graduate of the West Virginia College of Law, Woodrow A. Potesta was a practicing attorney in Fairmont, West Virginia. Mr. Potesta served the College of Law in many capacities including adjunct lecturer and is responsible for obtaining gifts to establish the Robert T. Donley Chair of Mineral and Energy Law to improve college facilities. He presented a gift of $100,000 which was matched with a $50,000 contribution by the Board of Regents as part of its Eminent Scholars Trust Fund program. The income of the $100,000 endowment is principally used to supplement the salary of the Woodrow A. Potesta Professor of Law. This support enables the College of Law to retain qualified faculty as well as to recruit top-level teachers from other schools and attract exceptional individuals from private practice.
