Order of the Coif

Selection to the Order of the Coif is a recognition of outstanding scholarly achievement and contribution to the College of Law. West Virginia University has had a chapter since 1925. Its members are selected by the faculty from the top ten percent of the graduating class who, at the end of the sixth semester, rank highest in scholarship. To be eligible for selection, a student must complete all classroom work within the West Virginia University College of Law.


Order of Barristers

The Order of Barristers is a national honorary organization whose purpose is the encouragement of oral advocacy and the development of brief writing skills through effective law school appellate moot court and mock trial programs. Its recipients are chosen annually from the graduating class by a faculty committee.
