Course Registration
Your courses will be assigned and you will be required to register for the assigned courses through the WVU STAR system. Your assigned courses will be posted on your Class of 2017 site along with the instructions on how to register. In June, we will verify that you registered for the assigned courses. E-mail is the preferred method of communication. Law students will use e-mail to communicate with each other, professors, and future employers. Every WVUstudent will be assigned a student e-mail account. Some professors may require students to e-mail assignments or participate in discussions by e-mail.
Financial Aid
Visit the WVU College of Law Financial Aid Office web page immediately. Read all the information carefully and take particular notice of the important deadlines and scholarship information. The FAFSA (Financial Aid Free Student Application) may be filled out online after January 1, 2014 at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
Handbook
Your Student Handbook for the College of Law will be located on the web at Academics on August 1, 2014. THIS HANDBOOK MUST BE UTILIZED THROUGHOUT YOUR LAW SCHOOL CAREER. The 2014-2015 College of Law Student Handbook contains the College of Law Honor Code and academic standards and requirements. You are responsible for knowing this information; print it and read it carefully.

The Mountaineer Information Xpress, or MIX, is a Web platform customized forWVU students. Through MIX, you can check your grades, send and receive e-mail, register for classes after your first year, pay your tuition and fees, keep up with student organizations, and find out what’s happening on campus.
MIX is the University’s primary means of communicating with students. ThroughMIX, you may receive messages about your major, reminders about approaching deadlines, and campus event information. The best way to learn about WVU is to log in to MIX and explore on your own. Students should check their MIX daily for e-mail and announcements.

Reading List
The reading list offers suggestions for good books that address various topics. If you have a chance this summer you might take some time to read some philosophy, constitutional history or literature, but most importantly relax and enjoy this summer. An updated list will be posted mid-May.

Student Health
Student ID
After August 1, you may have your picture taken for your WVU student ID card in room G118 at Bennett Tower, Evansdale Campus from 8:30 – 4:30, Monday through Friday. This ID card will be used for the Rec Center, PRT (Personal Rapid Transit System), library, activities, facilities, etc. If you have a WVU IDcard for the academic year 2013-2014, it will be activated for the 2014-2015 academic year. This will occur once we complete your registration for classes.
Textbooks
College of Law Bookstore
You may contact the bookstore by phone at 304-293-2492 during regular business hours Monday through Friday from 8:15 am to 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Textbooks cannot be purchased until you have received your individual class schedule. Textbook requirements may vary depending on your professor’s individual requirements.
If you intend to purchase used books, come to the bookstore early – used text books generally are in short supply. If you want to reserve textbooks online, go to http://wvulaw.bncollege.com.
You may request in-store pickup or home delivery. Contact the bookstore at (304)293-2492 if you need to make special arrangements to buy books. Remember to check online for your assignments for your first day of classes – your professors will definitely expect and assume you’ve done all of your reading. These assignments will not be posted until August.

WVU Athletic Ticket & General Tickets
WVU ID
You will need your WVU ID number for financial aid, the WVU STAR System, and your email account. Your WVU ID number will be posted at the top of the secure site.
Any student with a tuition waiver should call the ID office for special fee information at (304)293-2273.
