Commencement 2017 FAQ

1. What happens if I fail a course this semester?

In the event that a third year law student would not graduate due to insufficient hours or deficient GPA, the student will be contacted by the Dean’s office. Any student experiencing this problem is still permitted to participate in the Hooding/Commencement Ceremony, but you will not receive your diploma until you officially graduate.

2. Is there a limit to the number of guest a graduate can invite to the Hooding/Commencement Ceremony?

There is no limit to the number of guests a graduate can invite to the Hooding/Commencement Ceremony! The Creative Arts Center is large enough to accommodate everyone.

3. Who can attend the Hooding/Commencement Reception on Friday afternoon?

The reception is open to graduates, spouses, significant others, friends, and family.

4. Why do graduates have to arrive at the Creative Arts Center so early for Hooding/Commencement Ceremony?

There are two 2 important reasons!

Because a group picture of the graduating class will be taken promptly before line up. Please arrive wearing your cap and gown and assemble at the steps to the far left of the main entrance to the Creative Arts Center.

...also…

Because the graduates must assemble in a particular order (to be alphabetical order on the stage). Half of the graduates will process to the stage from the back of the CAC down the aisle on the left side of the audience, and half will process to the stage down the aisle on the right side of the audience. Class Marshals will help you to get in the proper order.

To take the photo and line up properly, it takes at least 30 minutes.
