Christine Pill - Class of 2018
Before Law School…
I have always followed my passion. Doing so led me to live, work, and volunteer in terrific places like Richmond, Virginia; New York City; San Diego, California; and even rural Haiti. My path was very winding, but my diverse background in performing arts management, strategic communications, and higher education strategic planning has only made my law school experience more interesting and satisfying.
Why WVU Law?
I chose WVU Law because I always knew that if I moved back to West Virginia I’d want to be an attorney, and that if were to become an attorney I’d want it to be in West Virginia. This just feels like home to me (because it is!). I couldn’t be happier with my choice. The faculty and staff, the academic atmosphere, and wide range of opportunities on law school hill are truly unmatched.
Still undecided. Right now I am most interested in trusts and estates and nonprofit entity formation. But I’ve also found myself interested in veterans law, thanks to clinic, and I’m trying to keep an open mind for an upcoming judicial clerkship.
In 10 Years...
I hope I am somehow making a meaningful, positive impact on the Mountain State. We have so many challenges and so many opportunities here. One reason I decided to move back is because I feel a personal obligation to reverse the proverbial “brain drain” to build my community.
Outside of Law School…
My husband and I just celebrated our one-year anniversary. We are excited to plant roots in our hometown with our families nearby. Our biggest project right now is completely renovating a 100-year-old home. (Let’s be honest, he’s doing all the work on the home.)
