Anish Patel - Class of 2021
Before Law School…
Before law school, I went to the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!) and majored in Communication Studies. I was very active in my fraternity, Delta Epsilon Psi, and took part in various community service projects. I originally aspired to be a doctor, but at some point I decided that wasn’t for me and instead chose to focus on getting into law school.
Why WVU Law?
WVU is very similar to University of Georgia in terms of the football culture, and that makes me feel like I never left Georgia in the first place. The College of Law is also way more friendly and community focused than any other college I applied/spoke to. I also got a generous scholarship and that helped make my decision a little easier and offset the costs associated with getting my degree.
At this point I’m not 100 percent sure what area I’m most interested in, but I am partial to Intellectual Property. The idea of working with things like copyrights and trademarks really intrigues me.
In 10 years…
In 10 years, I hope to be working in a transactional area of law at a firm. Hopefully, I’ll be back in Atlanta as well, or maybe somewhere in Texas.
Outside of Law School…
I’m a really big sports fan, mostly football and basketball, so if there’s a game on I’ll usually watch that. I also love movies and will watch an absurd amount throughout the week. Video games are also something I spend a big chunk of my free time on. Basically, I’m just a teenage boy in a grown man’s body when it comes to my hobbies.
