Our Baker Lecture brings in distinguished scholars to lecture on civil rights issues like free speech and equal protection. It was named in honor of Professor C. Edwin Baker, a leading scholar of constitutional law, communication law, and free speech at the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Baker’s collected works are now housed at the WVU College of Law George R. Farmer Jr. Library.

Named in honor of Charles L. Ihlenfeld, a prominent West Virginia lawyer and devoted public servant, our Ihlenfeld Lecture continues his legacy of service by hosting distinguished speakers in the fields of public service and ethics.

John W. Fisher II

The John W. Fisher II Lecture in Law and Medicine

This interdisciplinary lecture is named in honor of John W. Fisher II, a WVU College of Law professor and dean emeritus. It was established through the generosity of Thomas S. Clark M.D. and Jean Clark as part of the Clark Family Lecture Series, which provides lectures in 10 fields of study throughout West Virginia University.

Constitution Day

Each year, WVU Law joins federally funded educational institutions across the country in celebrating Constitution Day by providing an educational program about the U.S. Constitution. Former West Virginia senator Robert Byrd sponsored the legislation that established Constitution Day in 2004.
