Moot Court Board

Moot Court strengthens, refines, recognizes, and rewards your oral and written appellate advocacy skills. Members manage and compete in two in-house competitions and participate in intercollegiate, national, and international moot court competitions.

You can try out for Moot Court Board at the end of your first year by participating in 1L tryouts. Students who are not selected can also try out during their second year by competing in the Baker Cup competition.

The Baker Cup, our annual moot court competition, pits two student finalists against one another in a moot court battle of the minds judged by the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals. For more than a century, the Baker Cup has shaped legal excellence across the Mountain State.
