Biography

Caroline L. Osborne is a Professor of Law and the Director of the George R. Farmer, Jr. Law Library at West Virginia University School of Law. Professor. Osborne has over a decade of experience in law libraries at Washington & Lee University School of Law, the University of Richmond School of Law, and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law. She is active in national, regional, and international library associations as well as the Southeastern Association of Law Schools and The Order of the Coif. She is the Book Review Editor for the International Journal of Legal Information.

Her research interests include the intersection of scholarly impact metrics and open access, the pedagogy of research, and copyright. Her first book Sources and Strategies of Legal Research is published by Carolina Academic Press and available in May of 2023.

Professor Osborne received her M.S.L.S. and B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, her J.D. from the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond, and her L.L. M. in Taxation from Emory University School of Law. Before becoming a librarian, she practiced law in North Carolina, Georgia, and New York in the areas of leveraged finance and commercial real estate.

She is admitted to the practice of law in North Carolina (active), Georgia (inactive), and New York (retired).
