Scholarships and Financial Resources

Learn about the types of scholarships available to WVU Law students, how the WVU Hub supports students with financial aid and billing, and where you can find student loan resources.

We understand that law school can be expensive, which is why all incoming students are automatically considered for scholarship aid. Admitted students are notified of their scholarship award at the time of admission. No separate application is required; all admitted students are reviewed.

Scholarships are awarded through a holistic assessment of each student’s application. Academic achievement is the primary factor, but leadership experience, community involvement, and other personal or professional accomplishments are also considered.

Because awards are based on your application, it is important to keep the Enrollment Management Office informed of any updates. Changes may be submitted to wvulaw.admissions@mail.wvu.edu.

Scholarship awards are renewable for the second and third years of study, provided the student remains in good academic standing.

External Scholarships

Additional funding opportunities are available through national and regional scholarship programs offered by philanthropic organizations across the United States. When our office becomes aware of external scholarship opportunities, Elissa Momen, Associate Director of Enrollment Management and Scholarships, will share these with students. We also encourage students to explore the scholarship databases listed below:

Military-Connected Students

Students with military connections may be eligible for additional benefits and are encouraged to review the WVU Veterans Benefits page for more information.

WVU has a central financial aid office, known as the WVU Hub. The WVU Hub maintains a dedicated website for law students, offering information on tuition and fees, scholarship and loan opportunities, application procedures, and important deadlines. It serves as a one-stop resource for planning, applying for, and managing financial aid throughout law school.
