Scholarships and Financial Resources
Admissions Quicklinks
Learn about the types of scholarships available to WVU Law students, how the WVU Hub supports students with financial aid and billing, and where you can find student loan resources.
We understand that law school can be expensive, which is why all incoming students are automatically considered for scholarship aid. Admitted students are notified of their scholarship award at the time of admission. No separate application is required; all admitted students are reviewed.
Scholarships are awarded through a holistic assessment of each student’s application. Academic achievement is the primary factor, but leadership experience, community involvement, and other personal or professional accomplishments are also considered.
Because awards are based on your application, it is important to keep the Enrollment Management Office informed of any updates. Changes may be submitted to wvulaw.admissions@mail.wvu.edu.
Scholarship awards are renewable for the second and third years of study, provided the student remains in good academic standing.
Conditional Scholarships
The College of Law currently offers a limited number of conditional scholarships to entering students. These scholarships are conditioned upon the recipient maintaining a cumulative grade point average (GPA) above 2.5, which is the minimum GPA required for good academic standing. A student who fails to satisfy the scholarship’s higher GPA requirement will have the scholarship reduced or eliminated pursuant to the terms of the award.
As required by ABA Standards 509(b)(3) and 509(d), the following information is provided regarding the College of Law’s conditional scholarships:
- Students matriculating in 2024-2025 academic year: 7 students entering with a conditional scholarship; 0 conditional scholarships reduced or eliminated.
- Students matriculating in 2023-2024 academic year: 6 students entering with a conditional scholarship; 0 conditional scholarships reduced or eliminated.
- Student matriculating in 2022-2023 academic year: 12 students entering with a conditional scholarship; 1 conditional scholarships reduced or eliminated.
