Lunch Break!: Huntington

by Megan Patrick

The desire for summer employment often brings us law students to cities we aren’t too familiar with and if your “law job” happens to have dropped you in Huntington, West Virginia (or you’re making a daytrip) this post is for you!

Huntington, West Virginia

Now that we are halfway through the summer, your lunch options might be getting a little too familiar – so here are some delicious, local spots that will have you looking forward to lunch again!

For a quick sit-down lunch: Nawab has a great, affordable lunch buffet full of authentic Indian dishes.

For delicious, fresh Tex-Mex: Black Sheep is the place to beat. They have some great deals too -stop by on Tuesdays for half-price burritos or Thursdays for half-price nachos! (My pick: the Black Sheep Salad)

For the best Thai in town: Thai House offers a discounted lunch menu with many great specials. (My pick: the Pad Thai [medium spicy])

For a second breakfast (a.k.a. I need more coffee/sugar, stat!): River and Rail Bakeryoffers coffee/espresso, pastries, and even some great soup/sandwich lunch specials. Enjoy on the covered patio and get some fresh air too. (My pick: the scones or cheesecake)

For something on the fancier side: Huntington Prime sources local meat and produce. Try the Bread, Soup, and Salad Bar or one of the great sandwiches on their lunch menu.

And if you would rather pack your lunch – don’t forget to check out the Wild Ramp (in the Heritage Village shops) most days of the week and the Central City Farmers Market on Saturdays for fresh local produce and other foodstuffs.
