The Justitia Officium Award

The College of Law Justitia Officium Award recognizes outstanding contributions and service to the legal profession and is the highest honor the College of Law bestows upon an individual. Established in 1978, in commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the founding of the College of Law, the Justitia Officium Award is presented annually.

Rehearsal for Hooding/Commencement Ceremony

The rehearsal for the Hooding/Commencement Ceremony will be announced in the spring semester and updated on this page. 

Rehearsal is for the platform party only.

All Marshals, the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the 3L Class President introduces Professor of the Year and the Soloist will join the Dean to rehearse their parts in the ceremony. Specific instructions will be provided to these participants in advance of the rehearsal.


Marshals
The tradition of academic marshals comes from storied English universities. The Grand Marshal is the chief protocol officer who coordinates the ceremonial traditions of Commencement, including the processional and recessional. The Grand Marshal is also responsible for the school’s relics, including the mace and batons.
