Stacey Evans (President, Sports & Entertainment Law Society) is a third-year law student from Commack, New York. Stacey graduated cum laude from Syracuse University in 2004 with a degree in Communication & Rhetorical Studies. Stacey has spent time interning for the Yankees Entertainment & Sports Network, ABC Sports, the NBA Coaches Association, and most recently, the National Basketball Association, in New York, NY. Upon her graduation from West Virginia University?s College of Law, Stacey hopes to continue her work in sports law with a team, league or firm.
Rob Dixon (Vice President, Sports & Entertainment Law Society) is a second-year law student from Wilmington, Delaware. Rob graduated from West Virginia University in 2000 with a dual degree in Sociology and Anthropology. Rob is a former varsity track & field team member specializing in hurdles and sprints. Rob continues to foster his love of sports through his legal education, coaching, speed training, and participation in various sports camps. Rob also serves the Law Class of 2009 as an Ethics Council Representative. Rob & Demetra are the proud parents of Will, Pharoah, and Nyla. Upon graduation, Rob seeks employment in the collegiate or professional sports arena where he can combine his passion for, and experience in, sports with his education.
Bethany Swaton (Secretary, Sports & Entertainment Law Society) is a second-year law student from Wheeling, West Virginia. Bethany graduated summa cum laude from West Virginia University in 2006 with a degree in Sport Management. After interning two summers in The Ohio State University Department of Athletics, Bethany is currently employed at Schrader, Byrd and Companion and the Compliance Office at Wheeling Jesuit University, both in Wheeling, West Virginia. Upon graduation, Bethany hopes to work in intercollegiate athletics with hopes of becoming a Division IA Athletic Director.
Brandon Shumaker (Business Manager, Sports & Entertainment Law Society) is a third-year law student from Princeton, West Virginia. Brandon graduated from West Virginia University in 2005 with a degree in Political Science. Brandon has been an intern to the Mayor of Morgantown, the Mercer County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and is currently a Research Assistant for WVU College of Law Professor andre douglas pond cummings.
Brian Welch is a second-year law student from Clarksburg, West Virginia. Brian graduated from West Virginia University with a bachelor?s degree in English and a Masters degree in secondary education. Brian currently covers West Virginia University sports for Rivals.com and co-hosts a weekly podcast at hampshirereview.com. Prior to entering law school at WVU, Brian was a Sportswriter and Sports Editor for The Daily Athenaeum, WVU’s student newspaper. Brian has also been published by The Palm Beach (Fla.) Post, doghouseboxing.com, and Yahoo sports.
Joeseph Garcia is a second year law student from Fairmont, West Virginia. Joey graduated from West Virginia University?s Honors Program in 2005 with a B.A. in History and minors in Political Science, Geography and Spanish. Joey is an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, West Virginia University athletics, and futbol (soccer).
