Derek WetschCLASS OF 2018

BEFORE LAW SCHOOL …

In May 2015 I received my doctorate in pharmacy from West Virginia University School of Pharmacy and became a registered pharmacist in August 2015.

WHY WVU LAW?

WVU is West Virginia’s university and the only choice to remain loyal to my home state. WVU Law in particular because it is an exciting time to be a part of an organization that aligns with your personal values – Excel. Lead. Serve.

LAW INTEREST

I am extremely interested in health care law in general. Toward the end of pharmacy school and with some urging by fantastic mentors, I decided to make a positive impact on the profession with the knowledge and skills of a J.D.

IN 10 YEARS …

As a 1L, it is difficult to know where I could use both a PharmD and JD to make the most difference. First year, I will be keeping a sharp eye out to find where they collide best for me so that in ten years I can serve where I am needed.

OUTSIDE OF LAW SCHOOL …

Outside of law school I am very interested in keeping up my clinical skills as a pharmacist in order to keep current with an ever-changing field. Outside of the professional realm, I enjoy spending time with my family back home keeping up the family farm, hunting, fishing, and of course supporting our WVUMountaineers.
